Timothy Erdman

 

 

Timothy Erdman is a graduate of Temple University, Valley Forge Military College and Lebanon High School, Lebanon, PA. Born and raised in Lebanon, he learned trumpet from his father, Fred Erdman, a highly esteemed musician and band director. He also studied with Allen Dean, Faculty Trumpet Professor at Yale University; Lloyd Geisler, Principal Trumpet, National Symphony; and Frank Kaderabek, Principal Trumpet, Philadelphia Orchestra. After obtaining his B.S. degree in 1970, Mr. Erdman was immediately accepted into the cornet section of the world-famous United States Marine Band, “The President’s Own,” where he served under Presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter. After nearly ten years with the U.S. Marine Band, he went on to play principal trumpet for the Harrisburg Symphony and in chamber ensembles throughout the area, including lead trumpet stints for groups like The Four Tops and The Temptations.

From 1988-2005 Mr. Erdman taught trumpet as a member of several college music faculties: Millersville University, Lancaster Bible College, Messiah College and Lebanon Valley College. Since 2001 he has been conductor of the Lebanon Community Concert Band. He is a member of the 553rd Air National Guard Band of the Mid-Atlantic, serves as the secretary-treasurer of Local 135-211, Reading, PA chapter of The American Federation of Musicians, and is a member of Lebanon Local 401-750. A self-employed writer and musician, he runs his own marketing communications business, Writers Block Inc.
